Yes, even if you're not an AIA member, you can take our online courses for CEU credit.

At present, all states that require continuing education accept the AIA courses for the MCE state requirements.

Many engineers, specifiers, certified contractors, interior designers and landscape architects can claim CEU credit for AIA continuing education courses as well. Please verify with your licensing authority.

In fact, if you're not an AIA member but want to use the AIA transcript reporting center to log your AIA LU's, contact the AIA and ask for a non-member number. The number usually begins with "NM" followed by digits "012345" to distinguish your transcript from AIA member transcripts.

Contact the AIA to establish your non member transcript.

You can receive a certificate of completion one of three ways.

1) At the end of the course, you'll find an online completion certificate. Print a copy of the certificate for your records.

2) Send us an email after you complete your course. Include your "
Name" and the "Course Title". We will email an electronic completion certificate to the email address in our database.

3) If you prefer, a hardcopy of the completion certificate, send us your "
Name" and the "Course Title" and we will mail a copy of your certificate to the mailing address in our database.

Generally, you will receive one (1) credit for each couse successfully completed. Successful completion is a score of 70% or better on the final exam.

Our courses qualify for 60 minutes of education. Generally, 60 minutes of educational activity is equivalent to 1 AIA Learning Unit (LU), 1 Professional Development Unit (PDH) or 1/10 Continuing Education Unit (CEU). A point one CEU (.1) is equal to one hour or one LU Hour. One CEU is equal to ten hours or 10 LU Hours.

State definitions vary so please refer to your licensing board for specific criteria.

All of our courses qualify for Health, Safety Welfare (HSW) credit.

We never make our database available to third parties. Your personal information is not distributed to mailing lists.

Our courses are the equivalent of electronic brown bag seminars. That means you sign in to confirm attendance and we use the information to process credits. The only parties with access to your information are RBA, Inc. and the course sponsors.

Both RBA and the course sponsors use your information to process your continuing education credits and update our provider transcripts.

Sponsors receive course reports for their respective courses. These reports include your contact information (for demographic studies and verification purposes) but none of your professional information (registration numbers).

If you feel your privacy has been violated, send us an email requesting removal and we will delete your record from the database.

Yes, you can retake the same courses every year but you will NOT receive credit.

The AIA, and most US states, require you wait 3 years to receive credit for a repeat program.

However, if the sponsor modifies the program (at least 25%) and we change the program number, the course is available for credit. Before you take a course, review your RBA or AIA transcript to verify the course numbers.

We review courses every year with the subject matter experts to assure the material is the most current. During reviews, we often make revisions. When we revise courses, we resubmit the new course to AIA for approval and post the course with a new course number.

Our best efforts to bring you accurate information do not supercede the professional responsibility to act prudently. Please read our content disclaimer for course liability restrictions.

One way to find out if your state has a mandatory continuing education requirement is to contact your state board.

Another way is to visit the AIA website. The site shows a map of all states with MCE.

Also, the PPI website keeps a list of the state registration board weblinks.

Everytime you complete a course, our database records your course completion and forwards an email with your AIA number, name and course completed to three people (RBA Director of Continuing Education, RBA Office Manager and RBA Web administration). We send in triplicate for back up.

Friday of every week, our Office Manager processes your credit through the AIA transcript office via the Internet web form (called an electronic Form B).

Upon receipt, the adminstrator at the OU transcript office matches the information (name and AIA number) with provider information (RBA provider number) and updates your transcript. Despite the available electronic efficiency, it's not unusual for this process to take 2-3 weeks.

If you suspect an RBA processing error, contact us. If you suspect an AIA reporting error contact the transcript office (800) 605-8229.

You can also check your AIA transcript online.

No, we do not presently report your CEU credits for your states with MCE. We only process credits through the AIA.

In the future, when states adopt a reporting standard, we hope to add this feature to our reporting services.

We do provide completion certificates. If you need one, send an email with your "Name" and the "Course Title".

Yes, you will receive credit. For new courses or courses we randomly audit, we email affidavits asking you to verify the relative time spent in a course.

We audit courses to confirm the time spent so we can award appropriate credit. If the average time to complete a course is more than 1 hour, we can offer more credit for the course. Likewise, if the average time is less than 1 hour, we have to add content.

Our courses are free for design professionals because our sponsors fund the effort. These courses are the equivalent of brown bag seminars converted to a web-based course.

When our sponsors visit your firms to offer a continuing education seminar, they seldom charge for their courses because they want to teach you about their product so you will consider using it in future projects.

Our sponsors use the online course to supplement their face-to-face seminars. The sponsors offer these courses for free to teach you about their product.

No. If you're an AIA member, we will process your credits. All AIA/CES providers are REQUIRED to process credits for their students. If you encounter a provider who expects you to self-report, please notify the AIA.

Yes. If you're NOT an AIA member, you need to self-report your credits. We will provide completion certificates. Email us your "Name" and "Course Title" to request a certificate.

If you don't have an AIA number, use your state registration number for both the "AIA Membership Number" and your "State Registration Number".

If you don't have a state registration number or you prefer not to use it for both entries, enter a number using the following syntax. "NONAIA112701" where "112701" is the date you created your account. The system will acknowlege this as a suitable number.

If you want to establish an AIA non-member account, click here to request information about AIA transcripts for non-members.

Yes, many of our online courses are also available as brown bag lunch programs or traveling seminars.

If you would like to receive a face-to-face presentation from one of our sponsors, contact us (give us your name, firm name, and preferred contact method...email, phone, etc.) and we'll have a representative contact you to schedule a program.

Presently, all of our courses are passive activities that meet the self-directed study requirement for the individual state boards.

Although AIA sets no limits on the number of self-directed study programs, most states limit the amount of self-directed coursework for credit. As technology evolves, so too will our interaction as well as our course activity.

No, RBA will never charge design professionals for taking courses, processing credits or providing certificates. We are your source for FREE online continuing education -- no exceptions.

You're getting the "URL not found css" error because our webpage is incompatible with versions of Netscape 4.x. Netscape version 4.x was under development around the same time as some of the format scripting (css) we use in this webpage. Netscape didn't expect the css technology to become popular so their older browsers don't know how to read the css formatting. In the industry, Netscape 4.x is only about 4% of the browser market. We're aware of a solution to make the pages back compatible but haven't revised the code on the problem pages yet. In the meantime, you can upgrade to a more current version of Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer, and the page should view fine. We apologize for the inconvenience.
